Tampa, Fla. – The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce reaffirmed support for the concept of the Tampa Bay Rays staying in Tampa Bay and supports the Ybor City location for the team in a letter of support that was unanimously approved by board members at the April 26th meeting. The Chamber stands behind Chuck Sykes and Ron Christaldi, both previous chairs of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, in support of Rays 2020 and the organization’s mission to bring the Tampa Bay Rays to Tampa.
In 2016, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce announced Vision 2026, creating the Chamber as the Hub for Business, Catalyst for Change in our Community, and as an Inclusive Organization built on Organizational Excellence. The Tampa Bay Rays are a commerce driver for our community that perfectly aligns with these pillars in our vision plan.
The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce supports efforts that bring new business opportunities and success to the City of Tampa. “Our members are eager to see what kind of business the Tampa Bay Rays team could bring to our city. It’s an exciting time and I encourage our business partners to support the team in finding success in Tampa,” said Bob Rohrlack, President and CEO of Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce.
The mission at the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce is to work with all stakeholders to enhance our community and build business success. The Rays are a vital part of that mission and the Chamber encourages its members to support the efforts to establish a permanent home for the team in Ybor City. “We have an organization that is full of focused and motivated business professionals that believe in the success of our city and we’re happy to support a movement that seeks to raise our city to a higher level,” said Steve Bernstein, Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Chair.
